When this amendment was before Congress, a short letter was published in the New York Times.
It read: “Under the laws of the 50 states a married man is responsible for himself, his wife and his
children.
“Under the laws of the 50 states a married woman is not responsible for herself, her
husband or for her children.”
I posted it on the main bulletin board of a Fortune 500 company with 700 employees, men and
women, in the building.
Not person commented on it, nor did the Equal Rights Amendment pass.
